Fonix is an Event management Group based in Cochin, catering to the whole of South India – Fonix Events. Fonix caters to all kinds of clients and events – ranging from Launches, Corporate Shows, Weddings, Conferences, Parties, and Promotions and so on. Weddings are a market, which has an immense untapped potential. It was with this in mind that the parent company of Fonix Events was established over two decades ago. The Company was christened – Fonix Wedding decorators and catered solely to church, Reception Venue, Wedding Car and Residence decoration. Over the years, Fonix has built a sterling reputation in this avenue.
In an interview to Sreeni K.R, Mrs. Noeleen Davis, Director of Fonix spoke at length about the prospects of Event management and the duties and responsibilities of a wedding planner.1] As a wedding planner, how do you plan weddings for different people with different religions and beliefs?
We first go through the rituals to be followed by the couple who are getting married, be it Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jew etc. Each and every minute detail for the wedding is taken care of. In short, you give us the couple and the rest is taken care of.

11 Years after I got married to Angus Davids, my husband who is the Managing Director of Fonix events.

I am proud that my father-in-law late Mr. Fletcher Davids was the pioneer in wedding planning which he started in the late 60’s and then carried on by his son (Angus Davids) who continues his legacy till date.

We are different from the rest of the event managers.They diversify into weddings after being into events.But we diversified into events from wedding planning.

5] What is the future of Event management in Kerala in the coming years?
The event management sector is on a boom and people’s opinion of an event manager and wedding planner have changed for the better. Now clients would like to have an event manager or a wedding planner to take care of their needs. One stops to find end to end solutions for an event of any magnitude.

Over all experience is mind blowing because all are events happening not only in Kerala but we have also done events in Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Coimbatore, etc.

After the launch, we do the awareness campaign like Activity Kiosk, Roadshows, Poster campaign etc . It helps to promote the brand in the market.
9] Have inter caste marriages been increasing? What type of combination do you choose for the couples?
We always ask the couple first their choice, which in some cases is a combo of both the religions. We recently did a wedding of a Hindu groom and a Christian bride, the wedding started with the Hindu rituals in a mandap, then after the ceremony there was a change in the entire set up, the mandap was converted into a western Christian set up. This all happened in a matter of half an hour in front of an audience of 1500 pax.

We have done Fairy tale theme, Rajasthani theme, Arabic theme, Futuristic theme, Nature theme, Gautic theme, etc.

My husband who is always the man behind every new idea and concept. He is the Managing Director and creative head of FONIX EVENTS.

I am the daughter of Mr H.J.Lee and Mrs Mary Lee who started the first Chinese restaurant in Kerala called ‘Malaya Restaurant’.I am married to Angus Davids whose father late Mr Fletcher Davids is also the first person who started wedding planning in Kerala,So in short I am lucky to be the daughter and daughter-in-law of people who were pioneers in their own right.
