Jasmine Mathew, the Proprietor of Joann’s Homestyle, a store in Panampilly Nagar, who brings first time the concept of Home in style to kochiites. Joann’s Homestyle is a place for home couture which is placed in Style and class. One can find accessories for living room, bedroom, and items made up of natural products and the very new concepts of space management.In an interview to Sreeni K.R, Jasmine Mathew, the Proprietor of Joann’s Homestyle, spoke at length about the store and the concept of Home in style.
*What Joanns Home style provides to the customers?
It’s a complete home accessory store something that you can pick up’ just like that’ and a unique store that leads you what you should have for you in your new home. Joanns Home style a complete store for those who is looking for the latest trends that suit their new home.
*What is the motto behind the new idea?
The new idea born with the concept to bring every house holds item under one roof. It’s been my dream to set up a shop that reflected ‘Home couture for modern living’. A lifestyle store was something lacking in Kochi, and it was so difficult to get all you want to decorate your home under one roof.
*Where is your shop located?
Its at Panampilly nagar,comfortably tucked in at a quite residential lane.
*What is the importance of space management in modern time?
Palatial ‘Tharavadu’ and houses are a complete unKnown for the modern families. People prefer to live in flats and villas and with in that limited area they try to make use of the maximum use of the space available. And so trendy and contemporary accents just suits them right.
*As we all know customer is the King? Every customer has got his own idea about his/her home? How you satisfy the needs of different customers?
We haven’t stocked racks and racks of stuff what I like. We just kept a few samples of all things I have in my store. So the customer can see the samples and order as per their idea and décor.
*What are the items you are selling?
We have everything right from vase, artificial flowers, lamps, photo frames, bedsheets, curtain fabrics, silk quilts, silk runners, cushions, crockery, cutlery, rugs, place mats and special items made up of natural products like jute,cane and banana bark that give an ethnic touch to a modern style.
*Customers came with their own idea or you suggest your ideas for items to place in their new home?
It’s always the customer’s decision we can only give them suggestions.

*There are many item made up of natural products in your shops? What is the idea behind it?
I have noticed that kochiites do have a passion for anything natural and they don’t mind investing in natural products.
Your Shop is outlet for many young designers? How you inspire them?
Young designers have showcased their creativity in the form of flower arrangements, paintings, photo frames etc .These designers always face a problem of marketing their products and I just giving them a platform and help hand to do so.
Tell us about management system on which Joanns Homestyle is functioning?
Our management system is ‘Feel and Take’. That’s why I have converted my house into a shop and in this way I help my customers to get an idea of how and where to place a certain pieces and how it would be placed at a particular place. I have made show cases and stands for the purpose.
